Re: Region D boy's field is set
I didn't think Twin Springs would be as good this year either. They didn't have the best season, but they seem to be rallying and coming on strong into the playoffs.
Somehow, someway, Twin Springs seems to always find their way to the Region D playoffs.
I'm not sure Twin Springs has enough momentum to win the Region D this year, but I think they probably have as good a chance of upsetting Twin Valley as any team in the tournament.
Twin Springs - Gate City would be a great game if for no other reason than there is such history and rivalry between the two.

im pretty sure that TS isn't near as good as GC, i mean look at what TS lost last year, and plus they lose to Rye Cove and Rye Cove gets stomped by appalachia which GC killed. This game = not even close.

Twin Springs doesn't have a strong bench..
I think GC's defense would wear the starting five down and GC would take the W.
btw..Kecev got injured last night and Warner looked a little shaken up.. Hopefully both of them will be 100% by tourny time
Re: Region D boy's field is set
I've heard several people comment that Twin Springs doesn't have a lot of depth in the roster. I've also heard the same thing said of Twin Valley.
The one thing I've heard consistently of both teams is that their starting five are unbelievable.
Ath this level of the game, every team has to be playing their best game to advance. If there is a weakness in a team, it will come out in a big way. It really is a "one strike and you're out" situation.
The one advantage that Twin Springs may have over other teams is that some of their players, like Dockery and Warner, have been to the big game before.

Re: Region D boy's field is set
Twin Springs, Castlewood, and Twin Valley may not be deeper than 6-7 players but you can be sure that they are in excellent shape. If I'm not mistaken in a recent OT game with Castlewood the starting 5 for TS went the entire game. Castlewood subbed 1 or 2 players for a short period of time. If you get under the illusion that any of these teams will wilt becase they aren't very deep you will quickly build yourself a false sense of security which will be a mistake. Whoever plays these teams better be ready to get it for 32 minutes. They've all been in tough games and know how to dig down deep for that 2nd wind.
Re: Region D boy's field is set
If Kecev is unable to compete, it could hurt Twin Springs. I have to wonder why TS would risk injuring their starting five in a game they really didn't have to win. At any rate, I expect Twin Springs to come in fired up.

It's Castlewood, a must win game no matter what.
Re: Region D boy's field is set
If in fact Kecev is out of the tourament, and Twin Springs is eliminated, will it have been worth it?
TS's spot in the Region D tournament was already secured. The game against Castlewood was purely for pride.

Kecev played the entire second half last night, so I would say he'll be ready come Wednesday.
And yes, it is worth it to beat Castlewood.
Re: Region D boy's field is set
what time does GC play friday
Re: Region D boy's field is set
I would expect Kecev to play. The question is will he be 100%. In fact, will any of the TS starters be 100%. The article in the Kingsport Times, stated that Twin Springs' top three players were playing with injuries.
A "pride" victory is a great win, but winning the Region D would be greater.
Twin Springs will be facing a Haysi team that has had a really rough season but also came very close to upsetting Twin Valley in January. Haysi lives and dies by the 3 pt. Take it away, and they fall hard. But, if Jones, Viers, and Compton are hot on the 3, they can beat any team in Region D.
Pride aside, I wouldn't want to go into the Region D tournament with anything less than 100% physical capability.
